Beautiful center, deeply cultural and enriching experience in the middle of the sacred valley for a good price.
Peru has become one of the most popular places in the world to sit with Ayahuasca, and for good reason. Over the years, retreat centers have popped up all over the country, especially in two areas: The Sacred Valley and the Amazon. I’ve personally sat with Ayahuasca about 10 times here, in both regions, and I can tell you that each one has its own vibe.
The jungle tends to follow more traditional Shapibo lineages, while people in the Andes tend to follow traditions of the Red Road moreso. However, the Andes still has quite a big Shapibo influence, and often other lineages thrown into the mix. Neither is better nor worse, just different. But that difference can really shape your experience.
With that said, picking the right spot to take Ayahuasca is very important. Best case scenario, you won’t experience much and feel ripped off if you go to a bad retreat center. Worst case, taking the medicine without proper guidance and oversight can cause some serious harm.
At best, a poorly run retreat can leave you feeling disappointed or disconnected. At worst, it can be unsafe. So to help you avoid all that, Iโve put together a list of five well-respected, highly rated 7-day Ayahuasca retreats in Peru for every price range.
How much is a 7 day Ayahuasca Retreat in Peru?
Ayahuasca retreats can get expensive, but they donโt have to break the bank. There are still plenty of affordable, authentic options in Peru that are highly respected and run with integrity. One of the perks of having so many centers pop up in recent years is that the competition keeps standards high across the board.
Doing a 7-day Ayahuasca retreat in Peru hit the sweet spot as this length of time gives you plenty of time to experience multiple ceremonies, integrate the experiences, and properly soak up the experience. 3-day retreats, another common offering, are too short to get the full experience, in my opinion, while a 10 or 12-day retreat often costs more than most people’s budgets allow.
You donโt need a huge budget to do this work. Most 7-day Ayahuasca retreats in Peru cost between $1,000 and $1,500, and that usually includes accommodation, food, ceremonies, integration support, and sometimes extras like cleansings, flower baths, yoga classes, and all that good stuff.
Of course, there are more high-end centers that charge more. These tend to cater to foreigners and often include extras like psychologists, medical staff, cute private rooms with big comfortable beds, and structured support programs. If thatโs what you’re after, Iโve included a couple of solid options that offer that kind of experience.
But if youโre looking for something simpler, more rustic, and closer to how this medicine has traditionally been served, there are great budget-friendly retreats here too. Whatever your price range, thereโs something on this list for you.

- โฅ๏ธ Why choose this retreat: This one’s interesting. Psychonauta Tribe markets itself as a non-touristic retreat center that is more focused on community and self-exploration rather than healing. It blends Shipibo healing with modern integration practices to create a unique framework focusing on the celebration of healing through joy, play, and laughter while being just about as remote as you can get in the middle of the Amazon.

- โฅ๏ธ Why choose this item: One of the most well-known Ayahuasca centers in Peru. Arkana is a very well-established and experienced center that will provide a seamless experience from start to finish. Arkana is a chain with 2 centers in Peru (the Amazon and Sacred Valley), and 2 in Mexico. I know people who have been here and loved it, although being one of the bigger players in town, it’s more of a luxury Ayahuasca center with steeper prices.
- Provider: Arkana
- Location: Not too far from Nauta in the Amazon, or Urubamba in the Sacred Valley
- Duration: 7 days
- Price: From $2520
